Flights of fantasy

There are times when events occur which make you happier, satisfied, fulfilled. some events occur just to show you how much one is missing. Today, I met a French guy. An older French guy named Sebastian, dressed in Bermuda shorts and a shirt. just walking along and entering the office I was in. After a brief introduction by our host, we had a conversation on bread, of all things! And it was not an ordinary conversation, though our topic was well, rather, quite ordinary bread. I was shy but not reserved and so was he. And what was amazing was that we were talking about bread like it is physics! And I realized what I miss and what I currently lack... Witty conversations that could make ordinary things shoot like a comet from the skies! It was an incredible day!

babies are no longer babies!

Last August, my kids had their Linggo ng Wika. In the Philippines, this is a very important event since it celebrates our Filipino language. Programs and evvents are scheduledd wherein children must perform balagtasan and plays. Aside from that they must wear our ethnic costumes, whether they be Spanish-influenced Filipino traditional costumes or the colorful clothes of our Igorot and Muslim brothers.

First and foremost, I had to look for their fantabulous costumes. T'was exciting really, children's costumes are so much better nowadays compared to the fashion choices available to us before, blecch! kidding aside, my 2 daughters both opted for the Spanish-influenced Filipiniana costumes and my son opted for a formal Barong Tagalog. How I almost cried seeing them so cute and almost adult-like in their clothes! They've really now grown!

In school they showed off their various developed talents in singing, poetry and the Balagtasan, a form of Filipino debate which is very articulate in its use of poetic and deep Filipino words. TO my kids, Congratulations! I wish you'll never grow but I need to slowly let go! Love you all.

i'm finding it harder to blog, what with all the activities. my life has been such a social blur for the past weeks. it's very exciting.. man creates his own excitement... if 1 is bored, then 1 create his 0r her own amusement. happiness is in you hands. you can't let them dictate the norms and be swept in by the tide of their canned happiness. I resisted and now i'm more satisfied! Life has never been better! Finding beautiful things in small, ordinary, and simple things are so fulfilling! Heck! and less expensive at that, have a great week everyone! :-)
